February 2009, London: SexOnWax is all about propagating club music of distinction – and quality, eschewing passing trends in favour of a passion more timeless and pure. It therefore brings us indescribable pleasure to announce the latest addition to Omid’s fresh, new Sequential series. Yes, as the blizzard of the world continues, SexOnWax flies high into 2009 on the wings of Sequential 002 by Omid 16B. Sequential 002 encompasses two very different tracks: ‘Same As You’ and ‘The Move’. And these, in their various incarnations, represent the different sides of Omid’s psyche as well as the depth of his musicianship. ‘Same As You’ strikes out as an impressively fluid arrangement, where no (non-original) samples were used during production, whether it’s the synthesised lead lines, the beats or bass, which is obviously a pretty remarkable feat these days! Also essential to this Sequential is the emotive saxophone, provided by the overly able Simon Taylor, together with the 80s-style vox. Here Omid gets busy on vocal duties himself, recording layered Heaven 17-esque harmonies, alongside the mighty Loui Smith and Luke Armstrong. (This actually brings Omid full circle as he used to sing and perform in an indie band!) Of the variations available, the Dub Mix and Club Dub strip things down for utmost dancefloor impact, while the swirling Vocal Mix ensures the ‘Same As You’ message hits home. “I came up with the idea to have a few more musicians involved in ‘Same As You’ when I had some time off touring, so I could make the electronic vibes less stagnant and more spontaneous. I had Simon Taylor from Ritz Music store in Putney, London play sax, and Loui Smith and Luke Armstrong (aka The Duke) plus myself on vocals. “On the days of recording we jammed around with ideas and kept it natural and simple, yet moving forward with new harmonies and a better arrangement (the original version was 13 minutes long!). “I really enjoyed the way it developed through a space of six months. Kinda sense it has an unusual ‘80s meets now’ feel to it, and even though it went through many changes it almost ended up right back to how it started.” Omid 16B Next up, the way ‘The Move’ moves will definitely keep you guessing as to what could happen next and, since it’s packed with head-spinning surprises, it’s sure to invoke mass hysteria when heard properly on a good system. Arranged to get you deranged, ‘The Move’ challenges listeners with an exciting mash-up of changing rhythms that are held tightly in place by a funky-ass, live-sounding bassline. An epic flashback advanced by futuristic thinking, ‘The Move’ arrives in two main flavours: Live Club Dub and Live Vocal Mix, as outlined by Omid, below. “I don’t really care how long tracks end up, as long as they flow with a bassline, but even I was taking it too far when I ended up with this 30-minute club track (‘The Move’)! I wanted to include all my favourite elements in a solid club toon and build the track like a mini DJ mix. “There are recognisable sounds and grooves you may have heard before, but that’s not what this track is about. This track is about how we can move forward yet retain the best things from the past within house music. “I’ve been playing the Dub for a few months and can definitely feel its less serious and more fun approach works on the dancefloor. The Vocal Mix featuring Loui Smith then adds that little spark and lift for your more serious clubbers.” Omid 16B These two new beauties from the SexOnWax stable are due to hit the streets for Miami WMC, where you’re likely to feel them during the SOS gig in Bed, in Miami, Tuesday the 24th of March. So enjoy the trip of Sequential 002, SexOnWax’s first release of...
Omid 16B – Sequential 001

SEX024. Release date: December 22nd, 2008 ‘The Tone’ | ‘To Run To’ | ‘Dub the House’ SexOnWax proudly presents a new three-part series called Sequential, produced by Omid 16B. Sequential is a natural move for a globetrotting DJ living a life less ordinary and this SexOnWax ‘ménage à trois’ lays it down with three awesome new 16B productions: ‘The Tone’, ‘To Run To’ and ‘Dub the House’. First up, ‘The Tone’ wants for neither warmth nor funk with its insatiable beats and portly XXL b-line. Here housey hi-hats and intimate atmospherics are locked down for an uplifting sequence that draws you deep into the heart of ‘The Tone’, where it’s all about those rolling rhythms and an ever-growing groove. Next, ‘To Run To’ is a testament to Omid’s flair for giving all production elements space to breathe, build and breakdown. A whirling dervish of a bassline is savaged by fierce banks of synths, elevated by haunting minor melodies and then driven wild by stacks of percussion to create a massively powerful wall of sound. Finally, the throbbing, nu-swing, freebass arrangement of ‘Dub the House’ sounds uniquely like the 6400 Crew on Yoshitoshi, on ketamin-n-n-n, chasing Giorgio Moroder to meet the Belleville Three in the 21st century, in an elevator, with 16B. Heavy! Phwar, what a package, if we may say so ourselves! Sequential 001 follows on from brother Navid’s EP, part two of Omid’s album, and is SexOnWax’s third release of twenty zero eight – just in time for the party season! Sasha: Really loving “The Tone” am playing it out! Desyn Masiello: To Run To was a highlight at our recent gig at Moonpark Buenos Aires, rocking 5000 people with its dark and sexy growl…. and “The Tone” has been caned so much on our recent SOS tour it has become more or less the SOS theme tune! Sharam from Deep Dish: Old skool style… loving it! Behrouz: Already playing them over the weekend and loving it, teaching them all about the Groove Baby Yeah!! Lars from Funkdvoid: Wow all three of these are fantastic! Great release for Sexonwax….thanks! L Ed2000 (Berlin): This is outstanding. I love the early days of house and acid feeling in there. But it doesn’t sound retro at all! Deep sexy and evocative. Really cool (as an old deep house head 87 to 91 or so). Full support 8/10 radio club and lounge, also charting in the top 5 (dcc German dance charts for example ). Big thanks! Proton Radio (USA) – Danny Graham: “To Run To” was on my Proton Radio show on Tuesday. Crackin stuff! Anthony Pappa played the other 2 on his Proton show I...
Omid16B – ‘Like 3 Ears and 1 Eye’ Part One...

A time for musical renewal, rebirth and reinvention, a time for new timeless sounds to abound. Almost 10 years since Omid 16B’s enduring debut album, “Sounds From Another Room”, and seven years since its successor, “How to Live 100 Years”, an authentic five-year long journey is realized as Omid 16B prepares to present his third artist album – “Like 3 Ears And 1 Eye”. For Omid this latest incarnation embodies a new level of purity of expression, emotion and understanding, as indicated by the album’s second single, “Changing Change”, a 4 track EP released in February 2007. The first single, “PSCO/ You Are Me” came out in September 2006, both on SexOnWax Recordings and exclusively on Beatport.com Omid 16B lives for music. Cutting edge dance music is like oxygen for Omid Nourizadeh. A DJ, producer and label owner of Alola, Disclosure and SexOnwax Recordings, he’s spreading his passion worldwide. Fans range from Sasha to Tenaglia, François K to Morales and from Digweed to Danny Howells. Equally important to Omid are his fans on the dance floor. And he turns them on with superb sets that twist and turn from sexy tribal house through to dark, emotive techno – each set morphing to bring out the best in the crowd. Of Persian roots, Omid’s family emigrated to London when he was just one-year-old. His artistic flair and musical ear developed at an early age – as did his ambition. Influenced by Hendrix, The Cure, Depeche Mode and The Mission, he started playing the guitar at 14, learned how to play drums and bass guitar at 15 and formed his own band when he was 17. Already Omid’s tastes were becoming “more dance than rock, more loops than words, less songs more toons”. Omid laid the foundations for his own career path and set up Alola Records in 1994. Under his “ORN” moniker, his stunning “Snow” track was picked up by BMG Deconstruction and Omid’s production talents were snapped up by Eye Q, signing his debut album “Sounds From Another Room” (1998). This album was met with critical acclaim and spawned the hit single “Water Ride”. Another album followed as ” Million Dollar Man” on Under The Counter before “How To Live 100 Years” in 2002 on the respected Hooj Choons label and not to forget a mix compilation for his own label Alola “Everything all of them every year” (2002). The singles came thick and fast- but quality has always been the name of the game. To date, Omid has remixed great artists from The Cure, Gus Gus, Danny Howells and Halo Varga, Morel, François K. and Pete Moss. But once again it’s Omid’s skills that come to the fore. “Like 3 Ears and 1 Eye” will be released on November the 21st. Tracklisting: 1. Eyes In Disguise – 00.00 2. MK 8 – 10.33 3. cHanging change – 17.47 4. Har_Monique – 25.06 5. Listen To Your Heart? – 37.41 6. D_ark Angel – 46.55 7. Dreamelocity – 54.34 to 1.07.36 8. RoWmiD – Teardrops / The Rave

Rowmid: a name shrouded in ancient mystery, or a youthful fountain of fun? Ha! Well, it’s kinda both… because here we’re saluting the triumphant return of Rowan Blades to the label. Rowan last got his freak on with Sexonwax in 2003, when he remixed the immortal Solar Plexus alongside Desyn Masiello and Andy Page. But now he’s bringing melody back in the name of Romid, together with Sexonwax chief Omid! First up and way out beyond ‘space disco’, we like to think that Teardrops is more akin to ‘sci-fi calypso’. So enjoy the emotional progression as this exotic, ethereal cry from the heart to clubbers worldwide starts to sing. From atmospheric intro through to pounding conclusion, it’s a rollicking summer groove that delivers outrageous bass, slick rhythms and sun-kissed percussion – not forgetting the addictive, mad ass funk. Next comes The Rave. Reliably driven by acid and relentlessly enchanting, The Rave keeps on rumbling on, just the way we like it. It also shares echoes of the aforementioned ‘sci-fi calypso’ (definitely a summer sound), but it is naturally an altogether darker, edgier and more savage dancefloor beast. Tried, tested and trusted the world over for deep, future-proof house fulfilment, Teardrops and The Rave are fresh, sizzlin’ hot Sexonwax summer classics! Available now exclusively at...
Omid16B – Changing Change EP

Yes, Omid 16B weaves his alluring production magic through an entire EP of engaging dancefloor trips… Changing Change is numero uno. And – Boom! – it immediately feels like you’re about to embark on a blissful, ever-building, mind-blowing 16B journey. Ultra-emotional minor keys set the scene, leading you into an explosive arrangement where classic production values meet innovative dancefloor dynamics. The tight drum and percussion patterns lock the flow, while volcanic builds and breakdowns make for a heady, heartfelt mixdown. Changing Change is definitely a great way to start 2007! In da Process follows with a slick, badass bassline, a hypnotic groove and some loose, hip-shaking, bit-crushing melodic madness. Jam-packed with spaced-out disco-funk, it boasts more than enough twists ‘n’ turns to bring listeners to the boil. Indeed, the heavyweight build quality of this track is sure to break dancefloors the world over. A New Way is an enigma, a wildly undulating workout that explicitly expresses the quirky depths of Omid’s musical mind. Within this extravagant leftfield arrangement, there are many addictive elements. You may hear something like the hiss of a smoke machine or the va-va-voom of a Ferrari, while orchestral manoeuvres and moody drones also accompany this beautifully strange 16B experience. Pitch is partly twisted inside out by rude, acidic incidentals and partly a big, bouncing bundle of filtered, funky fun. A raw, relentless escapade into the extreme phatness of analogue-esque soundscapes, with layer upon layer of gritty, lo-res samples and an intensely playful bassline, Pitch completes this EP perfectly!
