Omid16B – PSCO/You Are Me

A: PSCO B: You Are Me With two critically acclaimed albums to his name, Omid 16B is in the midst of creating a third! And whilst we await fulfilment through its fruits, here are two new prized productions providing a sweet taster of his forthcoming project. Omid’s Psco is an atmospheric, breaks-driven beauty that seems to create its own impetus, soaring, swirling and dipping as freely as a bird in flight. An immense masterpiece sculpted from a sophisticated range of syncopated rhythms, it is saturated with the moody melodies and fierce ‘squelch factor’ of pulsating synthesisers, hypnotic key patterns and deep, growling sub-bass. With a subtle but captivating Giorgio Moroder/Midnight Express flavour, Psco sounds like a fresh, electrifying soundtrack to a movie that is moving clubland. You Are Me, meanwhile, is a ‘classic’ 16B production. A radiant metamorphosis of electronic funk, its inspired drum programming, sweeping synth patterns, crisp hi-hats and driving percussion all pave the way for a solid, uplifting 4/4 groove that is second to none. The breakdown is heavenly, honing in on cascading colours, piano melodies and infectious rhythms as the bubbling analogue-sounding bassline is dropped. Twisted, tweaked and filtered to perfection, the arrangement is achingly beautiful, its drama addictive. 100% pure16B productions, these tracks are guaranteed to move the crowds, play them loud! The Idiots – Techno Monster Jan22

The Idiots – Techno Monster

A: Techno Monster B: It’s Just An Illusion Living up to it’s name, ‘The Techno Monster’ is just that and a little more, as our favourite trio of crazy bastards cook up a storm. The result is this heavy wigging house track with a twist, its huge dirty bassline and droning bass sounds capable of stirring the nether regions of even the most fussy music lover, and will without a doubt refresh the parts that other basslines cannot reach, in a way that only The Idiots can. Meanwhile, the b-side takes us down memory label as we revisit the track ‘Cold’. An old Omid 16B track from 1996, this funky tech edged track still manages to hold its own, thanks largely to it’s hooky acid bassline and killer percussion, and for those who missed it the first time around, an insight into the early work of one of the scene’s most consistent producers. – Simon Jones...

Sychophant Slags – Digital Love

A: Digital Love B: Straight Answer The Slags are back with some deeply twisted and filthy House music. We wouldn’t expect anything less from this pair really! we don’t need to tell you about MR C’s influence on House Music and the club scene over the years, his exploits have been well documented! whilst Francis Harris’s impact in New York has also been indelible. It’s no surprise then that when these two get together in the studio, their tracks come out sounding like some of the freshest and dirtiest shit around! ‘Digital Love’ is a standout track, watch them freak out to this on the dancefloor, it’s got everything you’d want from a club track plus a kind sprinkle of filthy vocal humour added for good measure. The lyrics here are on the Parental Advisory side, if you need a clean version for your radio shows, pls just let us know! On the flip ‘Straight Answer’ twists and turns it’s way through Acid House sensibilities, this will come in very hand for those late night sessions! However, it’s ‘Digital Love’ that is really getting our analogue affections here! Pure Sex On Wax! MTV shows the animated video clip made to support the single of the Slags up to 25 x a week! So, tune in to MTV Dance and keep it...

DCM vs Cody – Deluded

A: Deluded B: Dirty Blue Omid plucks another rabbit from the Sexonwax hat as Darren Mcormack and Mark Cody aka DCM turn in an energy filled, twisting, turning techy stomper, low on frills, high on floor impact.

Danny Howells pres. Jamloops – Sexmachine

A: Sexmachine (Original Mix) B: Sexmachine (16B Remix) Phat beats, proper bottom end, kick starts this special 12″ that sees Danny continue his JamLoops project for Sexonwax. This is the second instalment of Danny’s cut and paste style grooves that will light-up any dance floor with his superb production. The strings and the voices slowly become apparent after 2 minutes and trust me, this will start to work your Head, which will start to work your Sweat. And before you know it, the break down, which builds once again to an explosion of sonic Ecstasy! On the flip our very own Omid 16B adds a bass line (that’s out of order) on top of the whole track with HipHop/Tod Terry style loop shots flying in and out to a Psycho-acoustic climax from Sexonwax once...

Sychophant Slags – Dubbed Question

A: Original Mix B: 16B Remix This is one hell of a combination… The Sycophant Slags are none other than London’s MR C and New York’s Francis Harris. MR C needs no introduction, one of the most influential, ever present forces on London’s House scene, both on vinyl via releases on the Plink Plonk and End Recordings imprints and in the clubs as an international DJ and Co Owner of the much adored End Club. Francis Harris is a key figure on the New York Club scene, co-promoting the legendary ‘Overboard’ night whilst running the excellent Matter/:Form label. Francis’s former productions can be found on Surreal, Big Chief and End Recordings to name a few, with collaborators including Dave Mothersole, Adam Collins and Erich Lee. ‘Dubbed Question’ is a storming piece of driving house with warmth at the low end and purpose in its percussion giving it the perfect edge for main room sets. Just for good measure, label boss 16B steps in with a typically lush remix, adding melodic keys that ride with the percussion perfectly, it’s stamped with that 16B production shine that we’ve come to expect. Expect two singles from these guys on Sexonwax this year! Written and produced by Richard West and Francis Harris. Additional remix production by Omid ’16B’ Nourizadeh. Sexonwax...

16B – Small Town Boy

A: Smalltown Boy (Vocal Mix) B: The Decision (Instrumental) The one-sided promo of O.R.N. ‘the Decision’ (the instrumental and remixed version) caused quite a stir early this year. Now we have coming up a full vocal release with the ‘the Decision’ on the flip. The instrumental has been one of the biggest records for a number of DJs most notably Danny Howells, Anthony Pappa and Dave Seaman and Omid himself. An idea that was first kicked around in 1996 and which has now seen O.R.N. aka Omid ’16B’ take on the challenge of creating his own unique take on this classic track ‘Small Town Boy’ from Bronski Beat. With the success of the instrumental mix, the next step was to find the right vocalist to work with. Omid: “First I had to clear the sample and I called it the ‘Decision’. My plan was to stay true to the ‘Original’ and leave a few bits out and add a few ideas and melodies of my own. I was then introduced to Barnaby Wallace and his voice was exactly what I was looking for. He heard the instrumental and we both got very excited at the thought of working together. Barnaby has song the track in a much lower voice than Jimmy Somerville did and I hope that this gives it a new and exciting edge. I think it works well…” Buy this release at...
